RASHAWN McCarthy and Jammer Jamito had double-doubles as AMA Online Education defeated the ZC Mindanao Aguilas, 91-85, in overtime on Tuesday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Filoil Flying V Arena.
McCarthy had 20 points and 12 rebounds, including the key baskets in overtime, while Jamito added 20 points and 10 rebounds as the Titans secured their second win in six outings.
McCarthy had six points in overtime including a lay-up with 46.3 seconds left in the extra session for a 90-83 lead for the Titans. His heroics preserved the effort of Jamito, who already had 17 points and seven rebounds in the first half for a 41-35 lead.
“May konti pa ring adjustments sa running game. Sa dulo, na-maintain na namin ’yung lead namin. Hindi na kami bumibigay,” said AMA coach Mark Herrera.
The Titans were already up, 76-71, but Robby Celiz forced overtime with 15.3 seconds left, burying three free throws after getting fouled at the three-point area, 78-78.
Ken Acibar had 23 points and 11 rebounds for the Aguilas, who fell to 1-5 in a tie with Wangs Basketball at the bottom of the team standings.
