PHOENIX Petroleum-Far Eastern University coach Eric Gonzales expects no let-up from his wards as they go for a 2-0 lead in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup finals against CafeFrance on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Gonzales hopes his players come prepared for a motivated CafeFrance squad in Game Two, especially after the Accelerators lost a 20-point lead to win by only four points, thanks to a late rally by the Bakers.
“Ine-expect naman namin yung fightback nila. Ang importante lang, hindi kami huminto. Gusto rin manalo ng kabila, but faith without work is dead. It's not about believing, it's about doing,” said Gonzales.
RR Pogoy was instrumental in Phoenix’s win in Game One, contributing 18 points and nine rebounds. The Accelerators also got 16 points from Ed Daquioag.
Meanwhile, CafeFrance coach Egay Maracaya hopes the late charge in Game One will rub on his players and build much-needed momentum for Tuesday’s match-up.
“I saw something that will make a difference in the second game. Hopefully, we could have a good start in the next game,” Macaraya said.
