TANDUAY finally notched a victory in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup, whipping winless ZC Mindanao Aguilas, 95-56, on Thursday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
JP Belencion scored 18 points, going 4 for 9 from three-point range, while Adrian Santos added 14 points and seven rebounds for the Rhum Masters, who took led by as many as 44 points en route to their first win after two losses.
Veterans Lucas Tagarda and Rudy Lingganay also contributed for the Rhum Masters, chipping in 12 points each.
Tanduay coach Lawrence Chongson is confident the squad loaded with veterans can now get a win streak going and start to catch up with the leaders.
“May materyales naman kami. My veterans stepped up today. Makaka-boost ito ng morale. We just have to buckle down to work again,” said Chongson.
Dexter Garcia and JR Ongteco had 11 points each for the Aguilas, winless in three games.
Mindanao only led 5-2 in the contest before Tanduay pulled off the rout.
