FORMER UAAP Finals rivals Ed Daquioag and Mac Belo powered a second half rally to lead Phoenix Petroleum-Far Eastern University to a 90-83 win over Caida Tile in Game One of the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup semifinals on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Arena.
Daquioag had 10 of his game-high 32 points in the third to keep the game close for Phoenix Petroleum before Belo took over in the fourth by breaking a 78-all deadlock with back-to-back baskets, giving the Accelerators the lead for good with 3:55 left in the game and take a 1-0 edge in the best-of-three semifinal series.
It was the biggest game of the conference for Daquioag, who missed a few games due to an injury.
Jonathan Grey had 14 points for Caida. Game Two is set next Tuesday at The Arena.
