PAUL Desiderio was glad to see his hard work on improving his game’s weak spots has paid off with a scorching shooting display to get Cafe France back on the winning track on Tuesday
Desiderio fired a team-high 19 points built on five triples as the Bakers thrashed BluStar Detergent, 88-52, to bounce back from a big loss to Cignal-San Beda.
The UP Maroons gunner was satisfied with the improving chemistry of the team but hopes the Bakers will be able to sustain this kind of play as they face tougher foes ahead in the PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup.
"Ngayon medyo nagje-jel na kami as a team," said Desiderio. "Yung consistency kailangan namin ngayon kasi yung problema sa team, pag nauunahan kami, nawawala na kami. So ayun ang tinatrabaho namin ngayon."
As one of the cornerstones of a Café France squad tabbed as a title contender, Desiderio said he’s happy to see his shooting improve but he noted that there’s still much work left, especially in his playmaking.
"Syempre yung three-point shooting ko kasi usually yung three-point shooting ko wala e. At saka yung playmaking ko. Yun din yung tinatrabaho ko, kung paano ako magke-create at maiinvolve yung mga teammates ko," he said.
The high-scoring guard is expected to do just that when the Bakers take on a dangerous Jose Rizal University side on Thursday.
The match starts at 1 p.m., with Cafe France eyeing a share of the second spot with idle Tanduay (3-1).
