WONDERING why Papi Sarr didn't play a single minute in Akari-Adamson's match against Centro Escolar University in the PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup on Tuesday?
Falcons coach Franz Pumaren gave a brief explanation about the Cameroonian reinforcement, who was sitting on the bench the entire match in full gear and warmers.
"He just lost his uniform. That's about it," said Pumaren.
Without the towering Sarr, the Scorpions zoomed to a 23-11 start and cruised to a 76-57 victory at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao.
Rod Ebondo made the most of Sarr’s absence, finishing with 25 points, 18 rebounds, and three blocks for CEU.
Akari-Adamson hardly had an answer to his onslaught the whole time Ebondo was on the court.
But Pumaren refused to attribute the loss entirely to Sarr's absence, saying the Scorpions simply beat the Falcons fair and square.
"They just played well. We played bad. That's the bottomline," said Pumaren, whose team now shares the second spot with Marinerong Pilipino and Zark's Burger-Lyceum with identical 4-2 win-loss tally.
