OLSEN Racela has no other goal in Far Eastern University's participation in the upcoming 2020 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup other than to see his young players mature.
"I’m excited for the new guys because we had such a good experience last year in the D-League," said Racela.
WIth a new team partner, SeaOil-FEU braces for the tough competition in the first conference of the developmental ranks which tips off on March 2.
Newcomers RJ Abarrientos and Chiolo Anonuevo banner the new faces suiting up for the Extreme Racers.
Also making his debut is Nigerian center Emman Ojuola, who is set to play with FEU after his stint with Naga College Foundation.
To Racela, developing the maturity of these players against veterans foes will be integral in FEU's quest of keeping themselves as contenders when the UAAP season rolls on later this year.
"We're hoping that this year’s participation will help them as well in our preparation for the coming UAAP season," he said.
Abarrientos, the highly touted shooter from the FEU juniors program, is no stranger to the holdovers in the seniors team. He and incoming third-year court general L-Jay Gonzales have previously brought glory to FEU when they led the Baby Tamaraws to the UAAP Season 79 juniors title in 2017.
Key returnees to the squad include team captain Ken Tuffin, Brandrey Bienes, Alec Stockton, and Xyrus Torres.
FEU is coming off a fourth place finish last UAAP season, where it ended with an 8-6 card.
