NLEX center Ola Adeogun has been slapped with a one-game suspension by the PBA Commissioner’s Office for a scuffle with Big Chill's Dexter Maiquez during their PBA D-League Aspirants Cup game last week.
Adeogun was also fined P5,000 for the flagrant foul 2 on Maiquez which led to the Nigerian center's ejection from the December 2 game won by the Road Warriors, 97-88.
Maiquez escaped penalty.
The big man of NCAA champion San Beda serve the suspension on January 7 against Wangs Basketball when the Road Warriors resume their campaign after the Christmas break.
The decision was made after a review of the altercation where the NLEX center appeared to headbutt Maiquez during an altercation. The Commissioner's Office said it reviewed a video from a reverse angle of the play prior to coming out with the sanctions.
It will be interesting to see how NLEX coach Boyet Fernandez will react to the decision since he has threatened to withhold Adeogun's allowances if he was indeed guilty of the charge.
Fernandez had insisted that Adeogun didn’t instigate the fracas and even presented several video reviews during a meeting with PBA Commissioner Chito Salud.
The altercation has also led to a word war between Fernandez and Big Chill counterpart Robert Sison.
