NLEX goes for a sweep of the eliminations when it takes on Big Chill on Thursday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The Road Warriors had earlier secured an outright semifinal spot and now seek to repeat their 2012 Foundation Cup accomplishment of winning all their elimination round games.
NLEX, which holds an 8-0 win-loss card, face of at 12 p.m. with the Superchargers, who have an even 4-4 mark.
“Our motivation is to finish the eliminations without a loss,” said NLEX coach Boyet Fernandez, after the Road Warriors won against Cebuana Lhuillier, 76-68, on Tuesday.
Big Chill moved to fifth place after a 50-46 victory over Jumbo Plastic Linoleum on Tuesday. An upset win over NLEX will erase any possible complications with the midtable still a tight fight.
The top two teams enter the semifinals outright while the third to sixth-placed squads clinch quarterfinal berths.
“If we play the way we did (against Jumbo Plastic), I think we will give NLEX a good fight,” said Big Chill coach Robert Sison.
Fourth-running Blackwater Sports, at 4-3 still in contention for an outright semifinal seat, eyes its second straight win when it takes on Café France (3-4) in the 2 p.m. match.
The Bakers are fighting for a playoff spot as they are currently in sixth place in the standings.
