NLEX goes for its fifth straight win to further close the gap on the leaders when it battles Fruitas on Monday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the JCSGO gym in Quezon City.
The Road Warriors and the Shakers enter the 12 p.m. match tied in the team standings with 4-2 win-loss cards.
The winner will move into a tie for second place with Café France, just a game behind league leader Blackwater Sports (6-1).
NLEX has overcome its early woes having won four straight matches after losing its first two games.
The four-time defending champion scored an 85-79 victory over Cagayan Valley last week for their fourth consecutive victory.
Fruitas, on the other hand, is coming off a 63-74 defeat against EA Regen Medical Group last Thursday.
“The winner of this game will have a good chance of making it to the playoffs,” said NLEX coach Boyet Fernandez.
In other matches, struggling Hog’s Breath Café faces Cagayan Valley at 10 a.m., while winless Informatics takes on Big Chill at 2 p.m.
Hog’s Breath (1-5) and Informatics (0-6) have struggled to get victories and may have a good chance this time as they face skidding squads.
The Rising Suns have lost three straight games while the Superchargers have just won one out of their previous four games. The two are tied in the standings with 3-4 win-loss records.
