JAKE Pascual dominated the shaded lane, scoring 15 of his 19 points in the first quarter, to lift NLEX to a 106-84 victory over Boracay Rum and its second win in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the JCSGO Gym in Quezon City.
Pascual also grabbed 11 rebounds as the Road Warriors evened their record to 2-2 after two straight defeats to open the conference.
The Road Warriors gained headway with a 26-18 lead before taking control at the half with a 51-33 advantage.
“Our defense really worked and our game plan worked against Boracay,” said NLEX coach Boyet Fernandez. “I’m happy that they played with a lot of energy since Boracay is playing really well.”
The Waves dropped to 3-3.
Boracay Rum came to within three points in the second period, 28-25, but that was the closest the Waves would get as NLEX went on a 13-2 run for a 41-27 lead.
Nico Salva added 17 points while Kirk Long and Kevin Alas chipped in 13 points each. RR Garcia had 12 points—seven in the second period.
Kenneth Acibar and Jeff Viernes each had 21 points for Boracay Rum but missed Roider Cabrera in the game.
