BYRON Villarias fired four triples as NLEX wrapped up its elimination campaign with an 81-70 victory over Jumbo Plastic on Thursday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Villarias topscored for the Road Warriors with 14 points as the streaky shooter came up with 11 points in the second and third quarters while converting four of his seven triples.
The Road Warriors finished the elimination phase with a 9-2 win-loss card, winning nine straight games following a 0-2 start.
Meanwhile, the Linoleum Giants finished their maiden conference with a 4-7 win-loss slate.
Villarias was instrumental in NLEX’s pullaway from a 21-21 deadlock in the second quarter, scoring seven points en route to a 39-27 halftime lead.
Jumbo Plastic was able to cut the deficit to four, 66-70, in the final period but Matt Ganuelas hit a three-point play for NLEX and Borgie Hormida also converted a triple, 77-68, to put the game away.
RR Garcia added 13 points while Nico Salva chalked up 12 points and seven rebounds for NLEX.
