IN the battle between two trapping teams, Zark's Burger-Lyceum escaped with the victory.

Jaycee Marcelino and CJ Perez came up big in the final stretch as the Jawbreakers hammered out an 83-76 win over Akari-Adamson in the PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup on Tuesday.

Marcelino got going inside the last six minutes and dropped eight straight points as the Jawbreakers took a 75-73 lead with three minutes remaining.

Mike Nzeusseu completed a three-point play before Perez took charge and scored five points including a booming triple for the final score.

Perez finished with 20 points, five rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block.

Marcelino and Ralph Tansingco added 19 and 17 markers, respectively, for the Jawbreakers to improve to 3-1.

"Again, I just challenged them. Actually, I didn't coach them in the third quarter. I have to back off sometimes and trust them, that they will do the right thing," said Zark’s coach Topex Robinson.

"Sometimes I have to... medyo I overcoach them. But (Jasper) Ayaay told me to relax, so I just relaxed and they got the job done."

Papi Sarr had 17 points for Akari-Adamson but was held scoreless in the final frame. He also had 13 boards, three assists, two steals, and two blocks.

Jerrick Ahanmisi and Jonathan Espeleta had 15 and 11 points, respectively, as Akari-Adamson absorbed its first loss in two games.
