TANDUAY completed its upset of twice-to-beat UP-QRS, pulling off a 99-89 victory in their second match on Thursday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig to set up a semifinal showdown with Café France.

Ex-pro Jaypee Belencion scored 27 points, making seven of Tanduay’s 12 triples.

Lucas Tagarda had 14 points, Adrian Santos chipped in 13, Jeff Javillonar contributed 12 and Rudy Lingganay had 10 markers.

"Matagal na kami rito sa D-League and it's been a while. Second appearance pa lang namin sa semifinals since 'yung inception ng D-League, but poetic justice. Yung ibang kalaban namin, ngayon pa lang pumasok kaya napakasaklap kung mae-eliminate kami," said Tanduay coach Lawrence Chongson.

The Rhum Masters won the first encounter, 68-66, last week.

The semifinals start on Tuesday.

"Throw those stuff out of the window. Cafe France, nakapag-champion na 'yan. They are backstopped by an import (Rod Ebondo) na matagal na sa liga at mas matagal pa sa ibang locals, so we'll have our hands full. We got to live to fight another day so just make the most out of it. Pagpaplanuhan na lang namin sila," he said.

Tanduay used a 21-7 run in the third quarter for a 62-52 lead and extended it to 18 in the fourth quarter, 78-60.

Former National University star Gelo Alilono scored 24, Raymond Aguilar had 17 points, while Kevin Ferrer and Raul Soyud had 15 markers apiece for UP QRS/Jam Liner.

The scores:

Tanduay 99 — Belencion 27, Tagarda 14, Santos 13, Javillonar 12, Lingganay 10, Llagas 8, Acuña 4, Celda 4, Pessumal 4, Wetherell 3, Gotladera 0.
