Tanduay eases to victory over Batangas to tighten grip on third spot

TANDUAY played solid in the middle quarters on the way to a 111-86 win over Batangas on Thursday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

The Rhum Masters dropped 65 points while holding their foes to just 35 in the second and third periods, highlighted by a ruthless 22-0 run that made it 73-39.

Tanduay scored their fifth win in seven games, while Batangas dropped to 4-3.

John Tambeling put up a sterling performance, finishing with 28 points, five rebounds and three steals.

Lester Alvarez added 20 points, six rebounds and six assists, while Paul Varilla had 18 markers.

"Alam namin yung impact nitong game so talagang we needed to step up," said Tanduay coach Lawrence Chongson.

Joseph Sedurifa had a double-double outing of 24 points and 11 rebounds to go with three assists and steals for Batangas.
