ROI Sumang scored the go-ahead basket with 7.3 seconds to play as Tanduay Light eliminated KeraMix from the quarterfinal race with a 70-69 on Thursday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup.

Sumang finished with a team-high 16 points, converting the jumper to lift the Rhum Masters to victory and help push idle AMA to the quarterfinals.

AMA, Tanduay Light, and KeraMix ended the eliminations with 4-5 win-loss slates but the Titans advanced with a superior quotient.

KeraMix only needed a victory to secure the quarterfinal berth but failed to pull it off. Tanduay, meanwhile, had to win by 26 points or more to advance.

Instead, AMA will be facing Cagayan Gerry’s in the quarterfinals with the Rising Suns holding a twice-to-beat advantage.

Jeff Viernes scored two free throws and a triple that gave KeraMix a 69-67 lead. But the Mixers failed to hold on.

Jumbo Escueta converted one of his two free throws before Sumang’s heroics. Mike Parala and Jamil Gabawan missed their shots in their final possession for KeraMix.

It was a sorry loss for KeraMix, which opened the conference with three straight wins before losing five of the last six games of the eliminations.

The scores:

Tanduay Light (70)—Sumang 16, Mariano 10, Rosales 10, Belencion 7, Rono 7, Santos 6, Ilagan 5, Eriobu 4, Escueta 3, Tagarda 2, Lo 0.

KeraMix (69)—DiGregorio 17, Parala 15, Viernes 14, Gabawan 8, Robles 7, Jalalon 4, Agovida 2, Ruaya 2, Saitanan 0, Gil 0.

Quarterscores: 18-17; 37-29; 53-58; 70-69.
