Tanduay Light rains triples on Jumbo Plastic to start Foundation Cup campaign on bright note

ROI Sumang, Aljon Mariano, and Jaypee Belencion combined for nine triples as Tanduay Light defeated Jumbo Plastic Linoleum, 79-61, on Monday to win in its first game of the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the JCSGO gym.

Sumang had 17 points, Mariano added 16, while Belencion tallied 14 for the Rhum Masters.

Belencion had a team-high four triples and was joined by Sumang and Mariano in hitting their outside shots, with the Rhum Masters converting all their three-pointers in the second half to pull away.

Tanduay coach Lawrence Chongson refused to be carried away with the win.

“One game doesn’t make a conference,” Chongson said. “Maybe we just caught Jumbo flat-footed dahil marami silang bagong players.”

No one from the Giants scored in double figures, with Denice Villamor leading the squad with nine points.
