Racal beats Tanduay to gain share of second in Foundation Cup

RACAL defeated Tanduay, 96-90, on Thursday to gain a share of second place in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Strike Gym in Bacoor, Cavite.

Jonathan Grey had 18 points including eight in the fourth quarter while Ael Banal scored 16 points for the Tile Master to improve their record to 4-1 and join CafeFrance in second spot behind unbeaten Phoenix (4-0).

Kyle Neypes hit a huge triple with 58.1 seconds to play in the fourth to give Racal a 92-88 lead.

Racal avoided a late-game collapse after holding a 37-18 lead in the match.

"I was disappointed because we got complacent and allowed them to get back in the game," said Racal coach Caloy Garcia. "Luckily in the end, we made the right shots and right decisions. It was a good win for us and we needed a win like this."

Val Acuna had 17 points, while Gelo Alolino chipped in 15 for the Rhum Masters, who fell to 3-2.
