Jumbo Plastic beats Tanduay to boost bid for twice-to-beat edge in quarterfinals

JUMBO Plastic Linoleum boosted its bid for a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals with a 68-59 win over Tanduay Light on Monday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the JCSGO gym in Quezon City.

The Giants upped their win-loss record to 6-3 and stayed in fourth place in the team standings with the wire-to-wire victory.

The top two in the eliminations automatically enter semifinals, while the teams that finish third and fourth will have twice-to-beat advantages in the quarterfinals.

“At least, nakahinga kami ng konti with this win,” said Jumbo Plastic coach Steve Tiu. “Malaki na ang chance namin at last sa top six.”

Philip Paniamogan had 14 points, while Jaymo Eguilos chipped in 13 points and 11 rebounds for Jumbo Plastic.

Tanduay had its winning streak snapped at three  and dropped to 4-5 but the Rhum Masters remained in sixth place and still in contention for the last quarterfinal berth.
