Wangs fights back from 19 points down to beat Mindanao Aguilas

GWYNE Capacio led a big fightback by Wangs Basketball in the fourth quarter en route to a 97-88 overtime win over ZC Mindanao Aguilas on Thursday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena.

Capacio scored eight of his 23 points in the fourth period as Wangs went on a 20-3 blast to finish regulation. He hit two free throws that put Wangs ahead, 79-77, only for Ken Acibar to tie the game for the Aguilas, who led by as many as 19 points.

Capacio remained in the zone in overtime, scoring nine points including a back-breaking three-point play that put Wangs ahead, 90-84.

“Talagang sa team, malaking bagay siya lalo na ngayon. Nakita na namin kung paano siya gagamitin kasi bago lang siya sa team,” said Wangs coach Pablo Lucas of their new acquisition.

James Mangahas had five of his 18 points in overtime, Francis Munsayac scored 17 and Clark Bautista added 16.

Dexter Garcia scored 23 points as the Aguilas fell to 0-2.
