Cafe France stays unbeaten after rout of Wangs, claims twice-to-beat edge in D-League playoffs

CAFÉ France assured itself of a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals of the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup after dispatching Wangs Basketball, 106-73, on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Arena.

The Bakers stayed unbeaten through five games to claim the first twice-to-beat incentive in the playoffs which go to the top four teams at the end of the elimination round.

Mar Villahermosa led seven Café France players in double figures with 15 points while Carl Bryan Cruz added 13 points and eight rebounds for the Bakers.

“Malaking tulong sa mga bata ito. They got the boost sa motivation. May kumpyansa sila and na-prove nila na their hard work is finally paying off,” said Café France coach Egay Macaraya.

The Bakers finished the first quarter with a 12-4 tear to take a 22-12 lead before a 13-0 blast bridging the second and third periods put them ahead for good, 49-37.

Mark Romero led Wangs with 18 points but his team fell to 1-4.
