BDO-National U edges Wangs Basketball to clinch spot in Aspirants Cup quarterfinals

BDO-NATIONAL University beat Wangs Basketball, 106-97, on Tuesday to clinch a quarterfinal berth in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Filoil Flying V Arena.

J-Jay Alejandro led the way in scoring for the Bulldogs with 23 points, while Alfred Aroga finished with a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds.

The Bulldogs scored only their second win in seven games, enough to secure a berth in the quarterfinal round.

"More than the win, I'm happy with how we played the game. Very methodical kami ngayon. This is the first time in the conference that we played the way we wanted to play," said BDO-NU coach Eric Altamirano.

James Mangahas had 22 points for Wangs, which ended the eliminations with a 1-7 win-loss record.
Wangs' only hope is for Mindanao (1-6) to lose against Phoenix Petroleum on Monday.
