FAR Eastern University teammates turned PBA D-League rivals battle it out for the MVP plum of the Aspirants Cup which will be awarded on Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The MVP trophy will be handed out prior to Game Four of the Aspirants Cup finals between Phoenix Petroleum-Far Eastern University and CafeFrance-Centro Escolar University at 3 p.m.

The Accelerators lead the series, 2-1, and have a chance to take home the crown on Tuesday.

The strongest candidates for the top individual honor are incidentally all former FEU standouts who now play for opposing squads in the finals, namely Mike Tolomia and Mac Belo of Phoenix-FEU, and Carl Bryan Cruz of CafeFrance.

Tolomia finished second in the MVP statistical race after the eliminations with 33.8 statistical points (SPs) after averaging 15.3 points, 7.4 assists, and 5.6 rebounds.

Belo, on the other hand, placed third with 33.4 SPs as he posted 20.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.4 steals after the eliminations while posting a record 41 points against Caida Tiles last February 15.

Cruz, a former FEU standout, ranked fourth in the MVP race after contributing 14.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.9 steals for the Bakers during the elimination round.

Raymond Aguilar actually topped the MVP race after having 34.9 SPs but the failure of QRS/JAM Liner to reach the semifinals hurt his chances of winning the individual plum.
