AMA University vies for solo second spot when it meets powerhouse Hapee on Thursday at the resumption of the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The Titans and the Fresh Fighters battle it out in the 3 p.m. game, with AMA hoping to close in on early leader Cebuana Lhuillier (3-0) with a win.

The Titans improved to 2-1 after a thrilling 76-74 win over Tanduay Light last March 30 in which burly Jay-R Taganas hit the game-winning shot in the dying seconds of the closely-fought game.

The Fresh Fighters, on the other hand, are vying for their second straight win as they try to follow up their 74-50 rout of Livermarin also last March 30.

In the first game, two teams which has tie-up with NCAA schools clash as MP Hotel-Letran takes on Livermarin-San Sebastian at 1 p.m.

The Warriors are coming off a 107-106 upset of fancied Cagayan Gerry’s last March 26 that snapped the team’s 11-game losing skid dating back to last conference.

Now, the Warriors are looking to extend their fortunes against a fellow NCAA team in the Guardians.

“This will be an interesting matchup,” said MP Hotel coach Louie Gonzales. “Both are school-based teams working with the same goal. Our participation here is part of our preparation for the upcoming NCAA season.”

Livermarin meanwhile, is looking to finally break into the win column after starting out with a 0-3 (win-loss) slate.

Standings: Cebuana Lhuillier 3-0, AMA 2-1, Jumbo Plastic Linoleum 2-1, Café France 2-1, KeraMix 2-2, Hapee 1-1, Cagayan Gerry’s 1-2, Tanduay Light 1-2, MP Hotel 1-2, Livermarin 0-3.
