OPING Sumalinog is among a plethora of former pros who are hoping to get a PBA call-up by way of the D-League.

But with his exploits in the recently-concluded Foundation Cup with Cignal, Sumalinog may have earned a second look from his mother team TnT and other PBA squads.

Sumalinog even starred for Cignal in Game Two of the finals, dropping a team-high 13 points including timely baskets down the stretch as the Hawkeyes swept the Centro Escolar University in the best-of-three finale and claim the crown on Thursday.

Proving he's more than just a scorer, the former Ateneo standout also shone on the defensive end, shutting down scorers from opposing teams.

There are no offers yet from any PBA team, though. But he’s staying patient.

"As of now, tinitingnan ko pa kung ire-renew ako sa TNT," he said.

While waiting, Sumalinog is savoring Cignal's conquest in the season-ending conference with the team he described as family.

Yung pwede kong masabi na isang word yung team Cignal, it’s all about family," he said.
