Moala Tautuaa, Jackson Corpuz help Gems overcome slow start to beat Tanduay and keep record unblemished

CEBUANA Lhuillier stayed unbeaten in four games with an 81-70 win over Tanduay Light, 81-70, on Monday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Moala Tautuaa had 20 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, and three steals, while Jackson Corpuz scored 13 of his 18 points in the third quarter for the Gems, rusty from an 18-day break.

Cebuana Lhuillier coach Boycie Zamar noted they only shot 34 percent from the field and trailed 35-34 at the half, needing a 12-0 run in the third quarter to pull away.

“’Yung first two quarters, off talaga. Hindi ’yan masasagot ng prayers. Talent can win games but the team effort on defense and offense should follow,” said Zamar.

Norbert Torres added 16 points while Paul Zamar chipped in 12 for the Gems.

Tanduay lost for the third straight game to fall to 1-3.
