Marinerong Pilipino deals AMA a 54-point drubbing to book spot in Foundation Cup quarterfinals

MARINERONG Pilipino cruised to a 125-71 win over AMA Online Education and booked a quarterfinals berth in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup on Thursday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig. 
 
The Skippers used a 31-13 second period and never looked back to notch their fifth straight win for a 6-4 record. 
 
Mark Isip took charge in the said period, unloading 11 of his 15 points as Marinerong Pilipino seized full control following a tight opening quarter.
 
But it was Julian Sargent who topscored for the Skippers with 20 points to go with seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals.
 
"Magandang pabaon to going to the playoffs. Pero as always I remind the players na ibang klase sa playoffs. Good thing we have veterans," said Marinerong Pilipino coach Koy Banal. 
 
Daniel Salonga scored 14 markers for AMA, which wrapped up its season-ending-conference campaign with a 1-9 card. 
 
Junjun Alas and Embons Bonleon added 13 and 12 points, respectively, while Andre Paras had nine points and the same number of boards with six blocks.
