KOY Banal returns to coaching in the PBA D-League as he handles the Marinong Pilipino squad beginning in the Foundation Cup in May.

Banal has already been overseeing the practices of Marinong Filipino in its buildup for the Foundation Cup, according to persons with knowledge of the information.

Banal won titles in the UAAP with Far Eastern University and in the NCAA with San Beda.

Banal last coached Barako Bull/Phoenix in the PBA from 2014 to 2016 before being replaced by Ariel Vanguardia.

He is the second veteran coach to launch a comeback in the D-League after Eric Altamirano, who will be handling another rookie team in Flying V.
