Caida Tiles scores big win in D-League debut, overcomes Tanduay Light

CAIDA Tiles came up huge in its PBA D-League debut, downing Tanduay Light, 90-79, on Thursday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Jiovani Jalalon had 17 points and nine assists, while Chris Javier added 16 points for the Tile Master.

Janus Lozada and Roider Cabrera hit back-to-back triples that gave the Tile Master a 76-68 lead with 3:52 left in the fourth period.

“It’s nice to win the first game. Medyo nag-aadjust pa ’yung mga players sa tawagan. The players have to work on their defense kasi ’yun ang gusto ng liga,” said Caida coach Caloy Garcia.

Ryan Wetherell had 21 points, eight rebounds, and six assists for the Rhum Masters, who tied it 68-68 following a basket by Reden Celda but sputtered in the end game after the Tile Master zoomed to an 83-73 lead on a 15-5 blast.
