Unbeaten Flying V first to Foundation Cup quarterfinals after rout of CEU Scorpions

FLYING V kept its record unblemished and secured a playoff spot with a 91-79 victory over Centro Escolar University on Tuesday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares sports Arena in Pasig.

Jeron Teng scored 30 points, hitting four three-pointers, as the Thunder scored their seventh win in as many games.

Eric Salamat scored 13, making 4 of 8 shots from the three-point line.

"CEU decided to zone us the whole game, luckily we were able to make our shots in the second half. It's very important for us to make our outside shots," said Flying V coach Eric Altamirano, whose team fired eight three pointers in the last 20 minutes.

Rod Ebondo paced the Scorpions with 22 points and 21 rebounds, while Orlan Wamar and Judel Fuentes added 11 points apiece off the bench.

The Scorpions saw their win streak end at four to fall to a 4-3 card.
