CIGNAL-San Beda has tapped the services of Jason Perkins to shore up its frontcourt ahead of its debut in the 2017 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup.

A back-up senior big man in La Salle's run to the UAAP championship last season, Perkins will bolster the Hawkeyes frontcourt led by Mark Bringas and Alfred Batino.

San Beda opens its campaign on Tuesday against AMA Online Education, which opened with a win over Batangas.

"It really deepens our rotation for our bigs but compared to other teams, we're still undersized," said Cignal coach Boyet Fernandez.

"He came back last January 12 and we were lucky he was a free agent. We're very impressed with the way he plays even though he played sparingly for La Salle," he added.

Although he has yet to hit top form after a back injury, Perkins has been given the green light by doctors and Fernandez hopes they can maximize the skills of the 6-foot-4 forward.

"He's currently doing rehab and we're trying to strengthen him. The doctors said that he's cleared to play so we hope he plays an important role in our team," Fernandez said of Perkins, who last played for Caida last season where he averaged 11.0 points and 8.3 rebounds.
