JAMES Martinez scored 58 points as AMA Online downed Topstar ZC Mindanao Aguilas, 125-76, on Tuesday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the JCSGO gym in Quezon City.

Martinez shot 22-of-42 from the field including a 10-of-26 clip from three-point range in 28 minutes to eclipse the league record for most points in a game.

AMA improved its record to 4-6 as Martinez eclipsed the previous mark of 41 points set by Mac Belo with Phoenix in the Aspirants Cup.

Martinez had 31 of the team’s 44 fourth-quarter points to complete the Titans’ domination.

Titans coach Mark Herrera admitted they were looking at breaking the record once the game result was beyond doubt.

“Hinabol lang namin ‘yung record ng D-League with James,” said Herrera.

Martinez had 13 points in the second quarter to give the Titans a 49-40 lead at halftime before scoring another 13 markers for a 20-point lead.

AMA is already out of contention for a Final Four berth but Herrera is looking to finish the conference on a high note.

"’Yung win din kasi ang hinahanap namin. Kung makadagdag sa record namin, bakit hindi,” said Herrera.

Jay-R Taganas had 13 points and 27 rebounds for AMA.

Gino Jumao-as had 19 points for the Aguilas, who stayed winless in 11 matches.
