BINAN, Laguna - Ed Daquioag was twice as happy to celebrate after Phoenix drew first blood in their 2016 PBA D-League Foundation Cup finals against Tanduay on the same day as his birthday.

Daquioag was even instrumental in Thursday's victory, as he scored seven points and the crucial undergoal stab in the dying seconds that shut the door on the Rhum Masters.

"Sobrang saya. Ang sarap sa pakiramdam. Lahat sila binabati ako, even yung mga tao dito binabati ako. Di ako sanay na maraming bumabati kasi mga kaibigan ko lang lagi eh," said the soft-spoken cager moments after the 84-76 Game 1 win.

"Siguro birthday gift din sa akin. Thankful ako dun kay God," he added.

Daquioag hopes the Accelerators, who are one win away from winning the crown, will finish off the Rhum Masters when both teams face off in Game 2 on Tuesday at the Strike Gym in Bacoor, Cavite.

"Parang Duterte (yung mindset sa Game 2): Shoot to kill," said Daquioag with a sly smile in referring to President Rodrigo Duterte.

"Kung lalamang kami, dapat idiin na namin. All out kami sa Tuesday," he added.
