JERON Teng had 19 points, while Eric Salamat added 13 points, eight assists, and four steals as Flying V rallied to force a draw with Arellano, 77-77, on Friday during a tune-up game in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup.

Salamat hit a triple, and Teng scored a twinner to grab a 77-75 lead, but Ariel Aguilar hit a short stab with 10 seconds to play. On the last possession, Teng’s shot was blocked by Kent Salado.

It was Flying V’s first tune-up game since forming their team as the Thunder prepare for their campaign in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup.

“I feel it’s good for us. It’s very helpful. We have a lot of learnings sa game na ‘yun. We just formed the team. We only have a couple of practices. I expected this kind of game to happen,” said Flying V coach Eric Altamirano.

“One thing positive about the game is we were able to come back. The boys didn’t give up. It’s a good sign. It’s a good game to evaluate where we are now in what we are trying to do as a team,” he added.

Salado and Richard Abanes each had 15 points for the Chiefs in a tune-up game that has no bearing on the standings of the Filoil preseason tournament.
