Bannered by FEU players, MJM Builders keep expectations low in D-League campaign
"Puro kami pahinga," said FEU assistant coach Eric Gonzales on what the Tamaraws did shortly after the UAAP Finals and as preparation for the coming D-League Aspirants Cup where they will carry the banner of MJM Builders.

THEY may have made the UAAP Finals this year and finished runner-up to eventual champion National University.

But don’t expect the nucleus of the Far Eastern University Tamaraws to make a quick impact when they wear the MJM Builders uniform in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup.

FEU assistant coach Eric Gonzales said the Tamaraws won’t return to practice until October 27 - or the same day when the season-opening tournament opens shop.

Gonzales said the team took a well-deserved respite following a grueling UAAP campaign that saw the Tamaraws battle the Bulldogs in three hard-fought games in the Finals.

“Puro kami pahinga,” Gonzales admitted. “Magpa-practice pa lang kami sa October 27.”

The Tamaraws will retain the solid core of their UAAP roster led by Mike Tolomia and Mac Belo, who was named part of the UAAP Mythical Five in the recently concluded Season 77.

Also joining the two are Carl Bryan Cruz, Raymar Jose, RR Pogoy, Achie Iñigo, Russel Escoto, Anthony Hargrove, and Ron Dennison, while complementing them are NU players Gelo Alolino, Glenn Khobuntin, and Tristan Perez, ex-Tamaraw Gryann Mendoza, and point guard Dan Alberto.

Gonzales said the team will try to finish the best place possible for the team this conference.

“Pupukpok lang kami then, tignan na lang natin kung saan kami matatapos,” said Gonzales.
