ED Daquioag is joining Phoenix Petroleum team in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup, whose core is made up of the same Far Eastern University squad which beat University of Santo Tomas in the finals of UAAP Season 78.

Coach Eric Gonzales confirmed Daquioag has signed with the team as one of the non-FEU players who will see action for the season-opening conference.

Daquiaog was part of Season 78 Mythical Five after averaging 16.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.1 steals.

Along with another Mythical Five member and teammate Kevin Ferrer, Daquiaog helped the Growling Tigers reached the finals after ending up as the top seed team in the eliminations with an 11-3 record.

But after Santo Tomas defeated National University in the semifinals, Daquioag and the rest of the Tigers lost to the Tamaraws in the title series to end their season in disappointment.

Daquiaog, who no longer has a playing year with UST, joins a Phoenix Petroleum side that has nine FEU players from its championship team led by finals Most Valuable Player Mac Belo.

He is expected to enter the PBA draft following the end of the 2016 D-League season.
