CEBUANA Lhuillier leaned on Mar Villahermosa, Kevin Ferrer, and Allan Mangahas to beat Tanduay Light, 77-57, on Thursday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The trio combined for 19 of the Gems’ 25 points in the third period to pull off the rout and improve their record to 2-2, while the Rhum Masters dropped to 1-3.

Head coach Boycie Zamar attributed to the win to his players starting to know their roles after the Gems lost big leads in a two-game skid.

“Siyempre, itong mga players namin, mga superstars sa college teams nila. I challenged them na ilagay nila mabuti ’yung pride nila, kung sa team ba o to themselves. We lost to Jumbo Plastic, lamang kami ng 14 points. We lost to Cagayan Valley, lamang kami ng 19 points. Ni-remind ko uli sila na hindi puwedeng mangyari uli ’yun,” said Zamar.

Villahermosa had 14 points, hitting 4 of 8 attempts from the three-point line, while Ferrer and Mangahas had 13 and 11 points respectively. Norbert Torres had a near-double-double of 10 points and nine rebounds.

The scores:

Cebuana Lhuillier (77) – Villahermosa 14, Ferrer 13, A. Mangahas 11, Torres 10, Enciso 7, Vosotros 7, Guinto 5, Lopez 4, J. Mangahas 3, Sarangay 2, Arellano 1, Canlas 0, Acibar 0.
