UNDEFEATED teams Cebuana Lhuillier and KeraMix slug it out on Thursday for the early lead in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the JCSGO gym in Quezon City.

Both with similar 2-0 slates, the Gems and Mixers play in the first game of a doubleheader at 1 p.m.

Both teams are eyeing the solo lead in the standings following lopsided victories last week. The Gems beat MP Hotel, 118-78, while the Mixers downed Liver Marin, 89-71.

Cebuana Lhuillier coach Boycie Zamar said winning by a big margin over MP Hotel is no reason for the Gems to play on a higher level as they go for their third straight win.

“Every game for us is very important. May chance ka to always motivate them a notch higher,” said Zamar.

KeraMix coach Caloy Garcia is hopeful the Mixers will continue with their hot start as they search for their first playoff appearance in the franchise’s young history after carrying the brand name Racal Motors in their debut during the Aspirants Cup.

“With only 10 teams, at least six wins, you are in the top six. That’s our goal this conference,” said Garcia.

In the second game, Gerry’s Cagayan Valley, the only other undefeated team in the conference, takes on MP Hotel at 3 p.m.

The Rising Suns are looking to follow their 75-70 win over AMA University in their first game without top draft pick Moala Tautuaa, who has since signed up with Cebuana Lhuillier.

The 0-2 Warriors have lost their first two games by an average margin of 33.5 points per game.
