CafeFrance gets big boost ahead of playoffs as Aguilas end campaign winless
Paul Zamar and the Bakers boost their bid for a twice-to-beat advantage.

CAFE France remained in the hunt for a top two slot with a 93-67 drubbing of winless Topstar Mindanao Aguilas on Tuesday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao.

Carl Bryan Cruz led Cafe France with 23 points, including 10 in the payoff period where the Bakers a 64-52 lead into a breakaway.

Michael Parala and Paul Zamar added 12 points apiece as the Bakers, who tied Phoenix with a 9-3 win-loss record. Racal took the top spot with a 10-2 card after beating AMA, 105-76.

"Malakas yung top 4, any team can beat anybody. Hopefully we can get through it and get to the finals again," said Cafe France assistant coach Mike Buendia, whose team played without ailing import Rodrigue Ebondo. 

Aguilas wrapped up the conference without a single victory in 12 outings. 

Topstar stayed within striking distance in the opening quarter, 22-18, before the Bakers seized control in the succeeding period and broke the game wide open in the final 10 minutes of the contest.

Gino Jumao-As paced the Aguilas with 20 points.
