Marinerong Pilipino nips Go for Gold, spoils Jerwin Gaco’s big game

MARINERONG Pilipino scraped past Go for Gold-CSB, 86-80 in the PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup on Tuesday at the Pasig City Sports Center.

Billy Robles led Marinerong Pilipino with 18 points, including a free throw in the waning seconds.

Renzo Subido scored 13 points, while Alvin Pasaol had his best game yet for the Skippers with 13 markers.

The Skippers joined Akari-Adamson at 5-2, while dealing Go for Gold its fourth loss in eight matches.

Rian Ayonayon hit a turnaround jumper with one minute and 30 seconds remaining to give the Skippers an 84-77 cushion.

Jerwin Gaco retaliated with an and-one play, but that proved to be the Scratchers' last field goal as Robles and Subido split their free throws to seal the win.

Gaco finished with 16 points.
