BATANGAS doused Marinerong Pilipino's last-gasp surge to score a 92-82 win in their PBA D-League Foundation Cup opener at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao on Tuesday.

Joseph Sedurifa fired 17 points and took charge for Batangas to take an early 15-point lead in the payoff period, 81-66.

But the Seafarers fought back, moving to within eight on Jeff Javillonar's basket, 82-90, with 1:57 left.

Cedric De Joya had 14 points, including a clutch triple in the final stretch, while Earvin Mendoza added 11 for Batangas.

"We really wanted na makilala kami as a defensive team kasi di kami talaga magagaling offensively," said Batangas coach Eric Gonzales.
