Wangs cruise past Victoria Sports to open Aspirants Cup campaign on winning note

WANGS opened its PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup campaign with a 92-83 win over Victoria Sports-MLQU at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig on Thursday.

Marlon Gomez and John Tambeling scored 17 points apiece for the Couriers, who blew a 21-point lead in the first half but recovered in time to pick up its first victory in the conference.

It was Gomez, though, who shone the brightest in the fourth period, dropping 10 of his total output including the timely baskets that doused Victoria Sports' rally.

Rey Publico and Allen Enriquez added 14 and 10 markers, respectively.

"Maganda depensa at na-execute mga plays. Yung yung key sa amin today," said Wangs coach Pablo Lucas.

Robert Herndon paced Victoria Sports with an all-around outing of 19 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

John Ragasa had 16 markers.
