Jerry Codinera preaches patience after Perpetual star Gab Dagangon's scoreless debut with Racal

GAB Dagangon hardly saw action in his first game in a Racal uniform in the PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup on Monday.

Activated by the team on Saturday in lieu of Daryl Singontiko, Dagangon wound up scoreless in eight minutes of action in the Tile Masters' 91-78 win over Batangas at the JCSGO Gym.

But Racal coach Jerry Codinera explained Dagangon is still trying to get the hang of playing with his new teammates.

"Bago pa e, kaka-activate lang. It will take time bago maka-adjust," said Codinera shortly after his team carved out its third win in as many games.

For now, the amiable mentor was satisfied to have a new weapon to add to Racal’s balanced attack as the Perpetual star adjusts to his role with the Tile Masters.

"Ang dami nila who can really play and provide quality minutes, so ganito muna (role niya)," said Codinera.

After all, Racal managed to beat Batangas behind the combined efforts of Sydney Onwubere, Kent Salado, and Jackson Corpuz.

Codinera, though, still wants to see more from his wards, especially in execution.

"Hindi pa masyadong evident yung adjustment namin sa style of play sa D-League," he said.
