AMA Online Education used a huge second quarter to beat Blustar KL Dragons, 113-84, on Monday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The Titans, coming off a 109-84 beating of winless Topstar, scored their third win in eight outings.

James Martinez scored 32 points, hitting five three-pointers, while Rashawn McCarthy had an all-around game of 24 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

Ryan Arambulo added 16 markers as the Titans kept their playoff hopes alive.

“Record sa amin ito. Ngayon pa lang kami nakapanalo ng back-to-back games, nagkaroon pa kami ng chance sa semifinals,” said AMA coach Mark Herrera, whose team lags behind heavyweights Cafe France (7-1), Phoenix (7-2), Racal (7-2), and Tanduay (6-3).

After a sloppy opening frame, the Titans went full throttle and wrapped up the first 20 minutes of action with a 54-40 spread.

The Titans didn't stop there, taking a 109-79 lead behind the efforts of Martinez, McCarthy, Arambulo, and Jay-R Taganas.

The Dragons, who absorbed their fifth straight loss, failed to recover from there.

Chun Hong Ting scored 21 points for Blustar, which suffered its ninth loss in 10 games.
