AMA University has curiously released Julian Sargent from its lineup in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup.

The Titans picked the La Salle standout with the second overall pick in this year’s draft and was expected to make him one of the team’s go-to guys.

But Titans coach Mark Herrera said Sargent sustained an unspecified injury, forcing him to drop the prized ward to eventually accommodate two players in former Jose Rizal University guard Jaycee Asuncion and University of the East forward Ronie de Leon.

“Pag hindi namin siya ni-release, automatic yun na 'yung isang import namin wala, so pinalitan na lang muna namin siya,” was all Herrera could explain after the team’s 97-90 win over Wangs on Thursday.

Herrara had been raving about 6-foot-3 Sargent, who averaged 10 points in his first three games, only to drop his prized ward.

The AMA coach said he intends to keep this current lineup that gave them their first win this conference.

“Siguro dahil nanalo tayo. Hangga’t nananalo, ituloy natin.”
