CAFÉ France avoided another collapse in the endgame to beat Tanduay Light, 68-62, on Monday for their first win in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the JCSGO Gym in Quezon City.

Alvin Abundo finished with only five points but converted a bank shot triple with 10 seconds left to save the victory for the Bakers who were on the verge of another collapse after leading by as many as 15 points.

Café France held on after Tanduay Light closed in at 65-62 with 1:42 left in the fourth.

The Bakers lost a 21-point lead in their first game against Cebuana Lhuillier, 86-85.

“Everybody was talking about Café France being a choker. Hopefully, we can do better next time,” Café France coach Egay Macaraya said.

“Alvin saved the game but it was a lucky shot,” said Macaraya in describing Abundo’s late trey.

Maverick Ahanmisi had 16 points while JM Noble added 15 for the Bakers, who actually took control of the game in the second with an 8-0 run that gave the Bakers a 21-13 lead while holding the Rhum Masters scoreless in the first five minutes of the quarter.

Aljon Mariano was the lone double-digit scorer for the Rhum Masters with 22 points.
