Injured Moala Tautuaa vows he'll play for Cebuana in Game Two of D-League semifinals

    Jun 8, 2015

TEST results have yet to come in, but Moala Tautuaa assured he’s going to suit up for Cebuana Lhuillier in Game Two of the PBA D-League Foundation Cup semifinals against Hapee on Thursday.

The Gems star slotman and prospective No. 1 pick in the PBA rookie draft winced in pain after twisting his left ankle early in the third quarter of Game One while defending Fresh Fighters counterpart Ola Adeogun.

Tautuaa never got to return to the game which Hapee eventually won, 82-71, and was later taken out in a stretcher.

Even though the foot has yet to be thoroughly examined, the Fil-Tongan vowed to play in Game Two, his confidence bolstered by the fact that he can already put weight on the injured foot.

“I will be ready on Thursday,” said Tautuaa, who finished the game with 11 points and 10 boards in 20 minutes of play. “I will play.”

Gems coach Boycie Zamar, though, is not as sure about Tautuaa's availability, but is confident his top-seeded team can force a do-or-die match with or without his best player.

“Playoff na ito. With or without Mo, we have to bounce back on Thursday,” Zamar said. “We’re ready to play without him.”
