Mila's Lechon disbands PBA D-League team after spate of lopsided losses

    Feb 12, 2018

MILA's Lechon's stint in the PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup proved to be a short one.

Citing an "internal problem," Mighty Roasters owner Aika Salanguit decided to disband the team on Monday after meeting with PBA technical director Eric Castro.

Salanguit, though, refused to elaborate the reason for dissolving the team that had lost by an average of 26.25 points in four games in their maiden conference.

The decision came days after Mila's Lechon's officials were summoned to shed light on the embarassing 55-102 loss to Zark's Burger Lyceum.

During that match, spectators noticed the Mighty Roasters seemingly wasting away possession after possession in the second half after keeping in step with their foes in the first 20 minutes.

Spectators also felt the players showed little desire to win the match, prompting league commissioner Willie Marcial to summon the team's officials.

The pullout means wins by Perpetual, Jose Rizal University, Gamboa Coffee Mix-St. Clare, and the Jawbreakers against the team were nullified.

Still, Salanguit expressed his desire to field another team in the league's Foundation Cup later this year with a more competitive squad.

"Salanguit promised that Mila’s Lechon will ajoin next conference with an improved and competitive roster," the league said in a statement.
