Cellar-dwelling MJM Builders take wire-to-wire win over Wangs Basketball to end year on high note

    Dec 22, 2014

MJM M-Builders defeated Wangs Basketball, 79-64, on Monday at the Marikina Sports Center to break its three-game losing streak in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup.

Mike Tolomia had 15 points, while Carl Bryan Cruz added 10 for the MJM M-Builders, which improved its win-loss record to 2-6 before the Christmas break.

MJM M-Builders started the game with a 7-0 run that led to a 27-8 advantage, the biggest margin of the game.

Assistant coach Eric Gonzales called the shots in place of MJM head coach Nash Racela, who had to attend the practice of Talk ’N Text, which is in the semifinals of the PBA Philippine Cup.

MJM M-Builders remains at the bottom of the standings and Gonzales said they need to bring their game a few notches higher if they want to salvage their campaign.

“We keep on reminding the players, lalo na doon sa mga nangangarap mag-PBA, that the PBA D-League is different,” said Gonzales, who is also the interim coach of Globalport in the PBA.

Wangs Basketball dropped to a 2-5 card.
