MCDAVID-La Salle Araneta wasted Jonathan Parreño's 67-point outing as it drubbed Alberei, 147-133, for its first win in the 2019 PBA D-League Foundation Cup Thursday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Nigerian center Henry Iloka led the Stallions with 40 points, 17 rebounds, four assists and three blocks in the second highest scoring output in league history behind BRT Sumisip-St. Clare's 161 points set earlier in the gameday against Black Mamba.
Jobert Medina flirted with a triple-double with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists, while ex-pro James Mangahas had 20 points and six assists.
Eduardo Doroteo also made 17 points, while Kennette Balbuena added 11 markers in the win that improved their card to 1-4.
"Finally nakaisa na kami," said coach Michael Gonzales. "Credit sa mga bata, kaasi sabi nga namin kaya kami sumali dito para mag-improve sila para sa darating sa NAASCU."
McDavid-La Salle Araneta was quick to assert control of the match, establishing a wide 47-30 advantage after opening the second quarter with 10 unanswered points punctuated by Mangahas' lay-up.
Alberei would trim the lead to just five, 84-89, in the third, but it would be the closest the Kings could get as the Stallions staged a 25-8 rally en route to a 114-92 edge with less than two minutes left in the quarter.
McDavid-La Salle Araneta led by as many as 23, 140-117, after Doroteo's bucket with 4:15 left to play.
Gonzales, though, pointed out the need to work on the Stallions' defense after Parreño tied the most points in the developmental league's history set by Eloy Poligrates in Marinerong Pilipino's 141-97 conquest of iWalk last August 26.
Parreño, who had played before in the PBA briefly for Kia, built that scoring feat behind 11 treys, but that wasn't enough to save his side from elimination.
Paulino Rebollos had 17 points while Mark Tano and Julian Palattao had 11 markers each for Alberei (1-5).
